Ever since tasting the gorgeous East African food from Kitgum Kitchen a year or so ago we have wanted more and more and more. When they approached us to do a pop up at our little pup we basically bit their hand off.
On the 19th April Kitgum Kitchen are popping up and bringing their incredible food with them. Do no miss out on this. If you have never tried East African food you are in for a massive treat.
This is a first at the Brooksteed. Monem, the proprietor of cairovan is a true Brightonian-Cariene mix. He offers a simple beautifully balanced and deliciously flavoured. The foods he serves through the hatches of his Cairovan camper are traditional Egyptian recipes passed down through his family from generation to generation.
Can you believe it's only been 2 years? It feels like so many more!! You know we love a party so come on down and help us to celebrate 2 years of having you wonderful people in our lives! It's the community that makes the Brooksteed what it is so lets party! Featuring The Juke Street Band, food by cairovan and the first ever performance of The Brooksteed Pub Choir. Abyss Brewing are creating a special birthday beer for us and of course there will be a big ass cake. It will also be the day we judge the winner of our 2nd ever home brew competition. We have extended our licence to run from 12 midday - 9.30pm on this particular Sunday and we are looking forward to seeing you all there.
As part of our birthday celebrations we are holding a Prosecco Brunch on Saturday 6th April. Including pastries from The Pantry, jams and conserves from Perfectly Preserved and both Italian Prosecco from Bernardi and English Sparkling from Fitz. Numbers are limited as this is a catered event and hey we need to know numbers! This is bound to sell out quickly so don’t hesitate.

We are completely not doing anything Valentine's based. We love our single customers as much as our coupled customers and we know how crappy Valentine's day can be if you're not in a relationship so forget all that! Come on down for no soppy couples deals, no speed dating, no other commercial rubbish. Just the usual love that comes from the Brooksteed and the gorgeous food that comes from Conscious Cow on their return to Worthing's Finest.
We have always loved the beers that these guys make and so it's about time we had them in for a tap takeover. Featuring Barrel Aged Imperial Oatmeal Stout (8.7%), Single Hop "First Gold", Winter Pale, Session Pale and Festival Pale there is something for everyone. Plus Wednesday is Pizza Night so what more could you ask for?
As part of our commitment to #Tryanuary we will be holding a series of tap takeovers, events and meet the makers during January. Drygate are a brilliant Scottish Brewery who will be taking over our taps for Burns night. Food will be provided but Mestiza Filipina - which you might think is strange but Louise is half Scottish, half Filipino and you will be amazed at how haggis can taste in the right hands! We are looking forward to making this a great celebration whether you're Scottish or not. Special prizes for anyone wearing a kilt, (we won't be looking under them)!
Because it's not all about beer! Life would be very dull if you only had one thing in your life so we like to mix things up a bit. Ian and Ingar from Madame Jennifer Distillerywill be joining us on the 16th January as part of our month of #tryaunary events. Come down and talk all things gin with these lovely guys and maybe even try our something new!!
As part of our #Tryanuary month we have invited the always lovely Jordan from Unbarred Brewery to come and host a meet the maker session. Jordan will be int he pub to talk to you about his beers and chat in general. We will of course have his great beers available on the night! Don't miss out.
We will be closed all day on Monday 7th January for our annual post-Christmas tidy up. You've seen the amount of decorations we have up - it takes time to remove all fo this and they generally leave a bit fo paint damage etc that needs seeing to so we will be working through this day to be sparkling and open again on Tuesday 8th January.
